The year passing at Agriturismo Villa Stabbia

January   Lemons, Oranges, Tangerines and Kumquats available

Coldish and relatively wet, but the time when the vines are being strung up. Dead trees are being removed and the aqua ducts in the field are being checked and maintained.

February  Lemons, Oranges, Tangerines and Kumquats available

Still coldish and temperatures can get down to freezing. Rarely does it snow, and if so, the snow only stays for a day or two. The vines should be strung up by now and depending on the temperature, pruning of the olive trees starts towards the end of the month. Pruning is of course quite hard for the tree, so if frost comes after it has been pruned, it may or may not survive. Fruit and ornamental trees are pruned first though.

March  Lemons, Oranges and Kumquats available

Still some coldish nights, but the temperature is up during the day. The agriturismo houses undergo a full spring cleaning, repainted or touched up depeding on their state, and all inventory is checked. Ready for the vacation season to start. Pruning of the olive trees all month, then all the fields are fertilised.

April Lemons, Oranges and Kumquats available

Nice weather - not to hot, not to cold - perfect for all outdoor activities. The grass on the fields is now growing fast, so the month is used to cut it and in the best of places, start making the first cut of hay for the horses during the winter. This is the best time for the horses - grass up to their bellies and temperatures just perfect.

May Lemons, Kumquats, Strawberries, Cherries and Apricots available

Still perfect weather, temperatures rising and the swimming-pool is usually opened around 1st of May. Still cutting grass - lots of fields!!!!!

June   Lemons, Kumquats, Strawberries, Cherries, Apricots, wild Plums, yellow Plums, red Plums and some Peaches available

Warm and comfortably days, nice evenings. Fields are only maintained if needed, otherwise left to grow.

July Lemons, wild Plums, yellow Plums, red Plums, Peaches, Black Berries, Pears, Apple and some Figs available

The temperatures start to get higher. Fields are only maintained if needed, otherwise left to grow. Wood collection for the winter starts.

August   Lemons, Black Berries, Pears, Apple, dark red Plums, blue Plums and Figs available

The hottest month of the year, but still bearable - specially with the pool. Fields are only maintained if needed, otherwise left to grow.

September  Lemons, Peaches, Black Berries, Pears, Apple, blue Plums, Figs, Hazelnuts and Walnuts available

Nice comfortable temperatures - pool still warm. The best white grapes are picked for Vin Santo, followed by a general grape picking for wine production - red and white wine. Time again to start cutting the grass in preparation for the olive harvest.

October Lemons, Sharon Fruits (Kaki) and Mushrooms available

Cooler evenings, but during the day a t-shirt is still ok. The pool mainly used by "vikings etc". Pool closed at the end of the month unless guests request it to remain open. The grass on all the fields are completely cut, and the olive harvest starts mid October.

November   Lemons, Sharon Fruits (Kaki) and Mushrooms available

Still ok temperatures during the day - long sleeved t-shirt, but cooler in the evening and heating needed at night. Starts to rain from time to time. Olive harvest for most of the month.

December Lemons, Sharon Fruits (Kaki), Oranges and Kumquats available

Fresh and crisp usually - can rain from time to time. Branches and remains from the olive harvest still left on the fields are now collected and burnt.
