Horse Riding at Villa Stabbia

Ready for a horse riding adventure in Tuscany?

A fantastic way to explore Tuscany and discover its heart, is on the back of one of our friendly and strong horses and using Villa Stabbia as your base for an unforgettable horse riding holiday.

Come along on a spectacular ride through vineyards and olive grooves, up the Tuscan hills and down the mountains following natural footpaths through the evergreen forests or along age-old trails and pathways! Ride past old farmhouses and dream about buying them and restoring them for yourself – terracotta floors and old wells included. Think of good wine and sun-dried tomatoes, colours and spices, all in a beautiful mix....... There you go...... That is Tuscany.

Our horses live naturally all year free in the olive groove - which makes them wonderful riding horses with excellent temperaments for all kinds of riders.

They love their trail rides and will offer willingly the final stretch at a canter up the hill as well as a stop at the top to marvel over the view.

So - does a riding holiday to you mean being in the saddle for a half or whole day? Or do you prefer to ride a whole week long from one place to the next? You can choose!

We offer several programmes suited for all levels of horse riding skills. The groups are always small - normally 4 persons, which allows each rider to be fully part of the group and feel at ease with the horses.

More information on each of our horses can be found here.

Discovery Week

You are not sure whether "being on a horse-back is really you - but always wanted to try?" Then why not give it a go?

We will assist you in discovering the fundamentals of riding, teach you how to care for the horse, tack it up but most importantly - introduce you to wonderful world of reading and understanding what these beautiful creatures tells you.

With experienced help you will become comfortable fluent in all the basic. As soon as you are comfortable and confident to step out of the arena, you are ready for your first trek. You will quickly learn to trust the quiet, balanced temperament of our horses. The ideal combination of lessons and outings is individually structured. Most likely the week will include either a full day trek or two half-day trips. Contact

Deja-vu Week

You've been in the saddle before, and definitely not a beginner - but it is suuuuuch a long time ago.

Well this week is for you. Rediscover the wonders of being a rider. We will refresh your memory in the arena first, and when you are ready you will combine outings with lessons for a couple of days, before going on full day trips. Contact for more info

Expericed Riding Week - part time

You know how to ride - been there, done it - and would like to spend a week in Tuscany in the saddle ----- yet also have the time to pursue other interests.

Here's your chance. We will only spend half the day in the saddle, either in the arena or on treks - the rest is all up to you. We can arrange for half day trips or full day trips with a day off in between - all individually planned according to your wishes. Contact for more info

Experienced Riding Week - full time

This is the true way to discover the heart of Tuscany - a riding week for people who are very experienced riders and who aren't afraid of speed. The pace can at times be fast and active, both cantering and galloping occur daily, and it is important that you know what you are doing on horseback.

The horses are extremely fit and eager to go, really fun rides with the occasional jump over natural obstacles in the forest.

The week can either consist of satellite trips, starting and returning to Villa Stabbia each day - or make a loop, sleeping in different places each night (most likely one night in a tent) and tasting our way through the Tuscan specialties.... Contact for more info

Tine will usually ride the guide-horse and Mario does all the logistics - taking care of everything else, right from arriving with lunch to arranging where to sleep and more importantly - where to eat dinner

This is sunny Tuscany. Probably called so as the sun stays in all the vegetables that grow here, and in the wine and olive oil.

This is truly a place for soft lifestyle and down to earth good locally made food. Enjoy!

If interested in participating or just need to know a bit more, please Contact us for information on prices, planned weeks and treks.

Note that the trips are different depending on the time of the year, and should you only have 3 or 4 days available and not a full week - don't worry - we can plan around that!

Making Sense

Life makes sense
and who could doubt it,
if we have
no doubt about it.
