There is a private veranda with garden furniture for each house where you can relax and enjoy the terraces covered with majestic olive trees, the valley and most importantly - the local produce.

During the cold winter months - wood for the fireplace will be supplied. Available for the youngest family members, is bed, high chair, push pram, stroller as well as toys and games.... unless of course they prefer to dig in the sand-pit or use the swings at the common play-ground.

When restoring the old farmhouses (click here for the history of Villa Stabbia), great care was taken to ensure that the original character was maintained both in and outside. In addition, most furnishings are antique.

The houses were restored preserving the original materials and structures whenever possible: floors covered with handmade cotto, well-worn stone stairs and ceilings where the beams show the history of the place - all part of the ancient buildings. The antique furniture was chosen to let visiting guests taste the atmosphere of the past and of the rural life in the Italian countryside.

So what is an Agriturismo, or "agricultural tourism" actually?

Basically it is first and foremost a working farm that in addition to the farming has opened its home to offer rustic to elegant accommodation.

The Agriturismo is usually a family-run operation, and guests have the option to actually see how the produce is made, meet the producer and find out what goes into food production. At the same time guests can gain more information about environmental responsibility and animal welfare - often with the possibility to interact with the animals.

It is important to remember that an Agriturismo is not an hotel - but a fully functioning farm. Some Agritourismi are extremely luxurious though and offer swimming pools, air-condition and all the luxuries that one might find in a five star resort.

However, all offer a unique farm experience and are generally appealing to all family members.
